It was a celebration of peace as the organization Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence, or B.R.A.G, brought dozens together with a barbecue on Saturday.
The day's rainy weather did not stop this year's festivities.
Organizers said the purpose of the peace barbecue was to commemorate B.R.A.G's success in reducing gun violence and homicides in the community. They said it's a message the organization has been working on since 2018.
The barbecue was more of a block party filled with games and activities for both people and the children of the community.
B.R.A.G is a city-funded outreach organization that helps create youth programs geared toward counseling, athletics and music, an effort they said to help kids stay off the streets.
B.R.A.G said they just started a new program geared toward self-defense and added that it's a way to teach young people discipline.
