New Yorkers rallied in Times Square Thursday evening to demand Hamas release the hostages being held captive in the Gaza Strip. The rally was held by the Israel-American Council and local Jewish community organizations.
It comes as more than 100 people are currently being held hostage, many of them Americans. President Joe Biden addressed the hostage situation while in Israel on Wednesday.
"We're working with partners throughout the region, pursuing every avenue to bring home those who are being held captive by Hamas. I can't speak publicly about all the details but let me assure you, for me as the American president, there's no higher priority than the release and safe return of all these hostages," Biden said.
Biden also voiced his full support for Israel and announced incoming aid for Gaza following the hospital blast. He says the U.S. will be sending $100 million in aid and Egypt will be opening the Rafah crossing to allow limited resources to the war-torn territory.
This Saturday marks two weeks since the latest war between Israel and Hamas began.
