Residents in Brownsville participated in a walk Monday to peacefully show that they are fed up with violence in the neighborhood.
Participants of the Heal the Land Prayer Walk say they are concerned about crime and have a general feeling that the neighborhood isn't safe.
The group says they wanted to spread love and unity, and say Martin Luther King Jr. Day was the perfect time to do it.
Participants say they are also meeting with leaders of the community to speak about addressing the situation.
The group says they want to hold walks in other communities, like Bed-Stuy, as well.
