The NYPD kept a close eye on the borough's Albanian communities in 2006, according to documents released by the Associated Press. The reports indicate that police targeted 23 locations in the predominantly Albanian neighborhoods of Norwood, Belmont and Pelham Parkway. Eateries, supermarkets, barber shops and video stores made the list. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says the department's surveillance methods fall within federal guidelines and help protect the city against terrorist threats.
