Brooklyn residents got the chance to sit down and have one-on-one conversations with NYPD officers Wednesday.
The Apollo Diner hosted the conversations for National Coffee with a Cop Day.
Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey says the event's purpose was to help better the relationship between the community and the police department.
Those in attendance were able to discuss with police what is happening in the neighborhood and ask questions.
"We talk about things as simple as getting to know the neighborhood coordination officers, making sure we communicate better with our communities, let them know where we're at, let them know what events we're holding so that the community can participate," Maddrey says.
