It might not be fall yet, but apple picking season is officially here with a sweeter crop to show for it.
This year's crop is a bit smaller than normal, and that's because of the ongoing drought.
Outhouse Orchards in North Salem had to invest thousands to install extensive drip irrigation across the farm.
But it's not all bad because the apples are sweeter this season.
"This is because, with the lack of water, the apples are a little bit less diluted, so the sugar concentration will be higher giving them that sweetness," said Kaela Outhouse of Outhouse Orchards.
Outhouse Orchards officially starts apple picking this Labor Day weekend.
They also have ripe peaches and pears available for the taking.
