Police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting outside a church in East Flatbush last April.
Police say 35-year-old Pierre Celestine was arrested and charged overnight in the killing of two men outside the Emmanuel Church of God as mourners were holding a wake.
Authorities say one of the victims was hit by bullets while trying to shield his wife from the gunfire. The victims were identified as 44-year-old Ronald Murphy, of Cypress Hills, and 40-year-old Sharieff Clayton, of the Bronx.
According to investigators, up to 15 rounds were fired from multiple shooters. The incident allegedly stemmed from a longstanding feud between Clayton and one of the gunmen.
Witnesses say the man with whom Clayton was arguing left the church and returned in a car with two others when the shooting began.
Celestine is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held without bail.
