An art gallery is among the damaged businesses affected by a massive fire in Red Hook.

One artist told News she found out about the fire in a Facebook chat Thursday morning, and thought it was old news.

When she searched for it online, she quickly realized the fire was really happening.

She said some of the artists in the chat mentioned they have extensive water damage to their studios, while others who had their ceilings collapse lost everything.

She says that made her feel even worse, especially since she just debuted her first art show there last weekend.

"It's devastating. I couldn’t believe it. Some of the stuff are not replaceable. It’s just gone," she says.

Artists are hoping to find a temporary space for any items that can be saved.
