A group of mural artists in Hunts Points are using their talents to commemorate the life of a slain Bronx teenager.
Family and friends of Damien Jay Martinez raised several hundred dollars to make a memorial for the 17-year-old, who was fatally stabbed in Bathgate in April of last year.
Martinez's mother picked a bright blue for the backdrop of the canvas because it was his favorite color. She says she hopes it will encourage kids to turn to peace instead of violence.
Police say a 16-year-old was arrested for Martinez's death five days after it happened.
