Assemblyman William Colton is calling for an investigation into the death of an elderly woman in District 47.
As News 12 Brooklyn has previously reported, 81-year-old Yu Qing Chen was struck by an MTA bus in Bensonhurst while crossing Bay Parkway at Stillwell Avenue in a marked crosswalk. Chen was transported to Maimonides Hospital, where police say she later died.
MTA bus driver Audley Smith, 62, has since been charged in connection to her death, with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
Assembly Colton has since demanded a complete investigation into the incident saying, "Although the bus driver has been arrested, it is not enough to investigate the actions of the driver. All other factors causing this tragic accident must be included."
