Authorities: 4 people, including 2 children, found dead in Bensonhurst

Authorities say a 24-year-old man remains in police custody in connection to the stabbings of four people inside of a Bensonhurst apartment Friday.
According to police, 56-year-old Fayzieva Mavlyuda, 27-year-old Maftuna Khakimova, 5-year-old Kamila Shavkatova and 4-year-old Timur Shavkatov, were found with multiple stab wounds in their home.
Neighbors say the victims were kind and friendly and their children would always play with neighbors.
A man told News 12 his own kids were friends with the victims and they are in shock over the events that took place.
News 12's Karina Gerry's Saturday afternoon report from Bensonhurst.
Many told News 12 they would never expect something like this to happen in the building.
"Everybody said 'hi' here. Everybody was friendly. It was a community," said resident Jennifer Ponzi.
The 24-year-old man whom police had not been identified as of Saturday night is believed to be a family member, according to residents who spoke with News 12.
Multiple residents who declined to be identified say the 24-year-old had a history of violence and mental issues.
Multiple residents who declined to be named said they saw the man leave the unit to buy alcohol on the night of the incident. They said he appeared unfazed before police arrested him.
Another resident told News 12 he used to smile and say hello to others, but at one point a year ago, hesuddenly became aggressive and non-responsive to others. They said he refused to greet residents and frequently yelled at people on the streets.
A small memorial to the children was erected in front of the residential complex 1590 West 8th Streetas neighbors left flowers, candles and small children's toys.
"[I came] because I have kids. I cannot imagine, the father's heartbreak now. I cannot imagine," said neighboring building resident Patricia Carreno.
