An illegal sports gambling ring with mob ties was broken up in Brooklyn and across the city Sunday, resulting in 11 arrests.
Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes says the arrests are part of a 16-month operation. Investigators seized computers, phones and betting slips. They say the suspects netted more than $45 million annually placing illegal bets on sporting events like the NCAA tournament. Six Brooklyn men are among the suspects.
Authorities say the ring has ties to the Califano crime family.
