Federal authorities increased security for Friday's game as the New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox, but it is not because of the rivalry between the teams.
Authorities warned stadiums and venues this week that they are popular targets for members of al-Qaida. One measure involves the NYPD patrolling the perimeter of the stadium looking for any possible threats throughout the game.
While the increase in security and concern of another terror plot on city venues is on the minds of authorities, it is not stopping the fans from attending the game as the division rivals take the field.
