Scaffolding collapsed atop a 12-story building project on Fourth Avenue Sunday afternoon, injuring three people as debris fell onto a neighboring building.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. at a new building project located at 243 Fourth Ave., according to the Department of Buildings. The collapsed scaffolding fell onto the neighboring building at 249 Fourth Ave.
Parts of the scaffolding were still dangling off the side of the building as of Sunday night as workers tried to use ropes and poles to rein it in.
Police say three females were taken to Methodist Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The injured victims have not been identified at this time.
The Department of Buildings tells News 12 that they are still investigating the cause of the collapse and working to determine whether the two buildings involved are safe.
