Doctors tell News 12 there are several ways for people to build strong bones and avoid osteoporosis.
Tips including maintaining a healthy weight because being under or overweight can impact bone density and quality.
Heavy alcohol use can also impact bone health and increase the risk of osteoporosis later in life. Smoking weakens bones as well.
Dr. Christine Jablonski, internist at the Orlando Health bone health and osteoporosis care program, recommends resistance training with lighter weights for those who suffer from osteoporosis.
If people are not getting enough Calcium and vitamin D in their diets, supplements can be critical to improve and maintain bone mass.
