The baby formula shortage that has gripped the nation is
forcing some parents to stretch far and wide to find what they need.
“This is so sad, my two daughters are both due in July, and
I hope they get it together with this formula situation,” said Jacqueline
Wilson, a soon-to-be grandmother.
News 12 stopped by 10 different supermarkets and
pharmacies across Brooklyn, keeping an eye out for the top three baby
formula brands – Similac Pro-Advance, Enfamil Enspire, and Gerber Good Start
GentlePro.
In one store, there was Enfamil but no Enspire. In
another store, there was just two cans of Similac Pro-Advance, and Gerber’s
product was nowhere to be found. The Food and Drug Administration Commissioner
Robert Califf cites the supply chain as a cause of this shortage.
“Our focus right now is just on making sure we get every
infant taken care of,” he said.
Califf also stated the shortage should be coming to an end
in a few weeks.
