A crowd of Brooklyn residents gathered in front of the Barclays Center to mark one year since the death of Michael Brown and to raise awareness of alleged injustice.
Sunday marks one year since the shooting death of Michael Brown by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.
Brown's death sparked weeks of protests and launched a movement across the country, and a discussion on race relations in the United States.
"I just think now with social media and with the activism by Black Lives Matter activists, which are in every local community, I think that now there's more attention to the issue," says Morrisania resident Melanie Berdacia.
There was a four-minute moment of silence to signify the four hours that the group says Michael Brown was left to die in the street.
