Brooklyn athletes headed to Kingsborough Community College to try out for a spot on the new basketball team, the Coney Island Thunder.
The Coney Island Thunder is a minor league team linked with the American Basketball Association, which has multiple minor league teams across the nation.
The creators say the team took around a year to develop. It was founded by two partners, a public-school teacher and a man who has another basketball team in Vermont.
The two men told News 12 they were excited to see the players show off their skills.
Saturday was the first day of tryouts for the team. The upcoming season is set to begin in October.
