Some Bathgate Avenue residents want the Department of Transportation to be more proactive to prevent a disaster.
The DOT previously installed a speed bump on the roadway between 179th and 180th streets. However, residents say cars constantly speed along Bathgate Avenue.
Residents believe it's not enough, saying there's no stop sign at 179th Street, so drivers have a long way to pick up speed. Two day care centers are along that stretch.
Neighbors want the DOT to take a second look at the area and possibly install more speed bumps or signs.
