Some residents and community board members hope to demolish plans that call for a Home Depot and residential building in Bay Ridge.
Critics say the planned additions will only add to the area?s congestion problems. They also say the 11-story residential building will obstruct views in the area.
Despite the opposition, the developer in charge of the project believes the additions will bring housing and jobs to the community.
?Unless people stop having babies, stop looking for jobs, they will need housing, affordable housing, jobs and opportunities,? the president of MSK Properties, the company behind the project, said.
The majority of Community Board 10 has endorsed the project. The proposal is in the borough president?s office for a review and will eventually go to the City Council for a vote.
