With hazy, hot and humid conditions across the borough Tuesday, Brooklyn residents flocked to the Coney Island beach to cool off.
Temperatures got up to the high 80s and low 90s under mostly sunny skies. While it was a bit cooler by the water in Red Hook, residents were still sweating in their T-shirts and shorts. Kids also lined up for the ice cream truck.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation says children and adults with respiratory problems like asthma should reduce their time and heavy activity outdoors. An air quality health advisory is in effect until 10 p.m.
Anyone spending time outside should seek shade and cool off in some type of body of water every now and then.
The high temperatures are expected to last through the week.
