You may have heard of “Bear 211” who has been making a splash on social media after multiple sightings in Trumbull.

Gabriella Longobardo, a Trumbull resident, got so interested in the adventures of this bear that she created his very own Facebook page.

The 1 ½ year old animal who was separated from his mother earned his name due to the double tags in his ears, which allow the state to track his movements.

Longobardo's husband says when people see the bear they post a picture on the page.

"I think in like two days, there was…1,000 members in the group," he said.

So far, he has been spotted in Trumbull and Greenwich, and also Bedford, New York. The Longobardos say they want to make sure people are safe and not to approach the bear.

“I'm hoping that it continues to be fun and that there's no danger to any children or anything like that," says Gabriella.

News 12 reached out to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, but didn’t get a response. Its website reminds people not to feed bears. It also says it’s not uncommon for them to travel as far away as Vermont.
