Bed-Stuy school gets makeover for New York Cares event

Schools in Brooklyn and all over the city got a makeover Saturday for an initiative aiming to revitalize more than 35 public schools.
Volunteers painted, raked and cleaned P.S. 297 in Bedford-Stuyvesant as a part of the 26th annual New York Cares Day for Schools.
The citywide volunteer day is part of a fundraising effort that will support the New York Cares programs from school children.
James Brown, the principal at P.S. 297 also helped volunteer, saying the fresh paint will benefit his students.
"This enhances our community. Our children will come back on Monday morning and it's almost like a Christmas Day," says Brown.
The Day for Schools will sponsor thousands of projects in elementary schools, including SAT prep and reading skills.
