Some local businesses along Aruthur Avenue in Belmont were busy on Thanksgiving, staying open to serve customers on the holiday.
Rosa Pacrullo, owner of Tino’s Deli, said they opened at 5:30 a.m. and served Italian dishes as well as individual Thanksgiving dinners. Pacrullo said they carved up 50 30-pound turkeys.
Meanwhile, M&G Restaurant was cleaning before closing. Workers said Thursday’s rain may have kept some customers away from dining in, but they were flooded with more delivery orders than usual.
Over at Luna Cafe, customers said the corner shop felt like home for many in the Albanian community who couldn’t spend the holiday with loved ones.
"It’s a family-owned business, so a lot of people don’t have their families, they feel like home when they come,” said Visar Pajaziti, member of the Luna Cafe. “They enjoy, like today, we had our turkey for everybody.”
Many people said that with Thanksgiving dinner now behind them, they’re turning their attention to Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, which is the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
