A stubborn opossum took up post in Belmont Thursday, forcing some residents to take matters into their own hands.
A crowed gathered at Cruger and Arnow avenues where the wild animal sat perched atop a gate, hissing at passersby for more than an hour. Neighbors say they made several phone calls for help, including to animal control, but were told that there's nothing they can do.
A city worker finally stepped up, grabbing the opossum by its tail and helping to lead it up a nearby tree.
