A neighborhood staple pizzeria in Melrose was destroyed back in December after a fire. Now, they’re reopening their doors with a brand-new look.
Pepe Joe’s Pizzeria went up in flames on Dec. 5 when it burned down due to an e-bike fire. The Melrose pizzeria served the community for 26 years and will go back to serving them delicious slices and pies once again.
“It is only when you see situations like this, that you see how many people you have behind you and really love you,” said Sylvestre Camaano, owner of Pepe Joe’s.
The fire that took place at the end of 2022 left the front of the pizza shop in pieces – with charred tabletops, chairs, and walls, all a result of an e-bike being plugged in to charge overnight, unmanned.
Camaaro received news from ConEdison that the gas in Pepe Joe’s will be back on Monday so they can officially get their business back up off the ground and running for their loyal Bronx customers.
