Parents and seniors in Bensonhurst are raising alarms over mopeds and e-bikes zipping through Seth Low Playground, saying the dangerous rides are putting children's lives at risk.

“I’ve seen a scooter come within two feet of hitting my kid,” one father said.
The PTA president at a nearby school said officials are even considering moving recess indoors to avoid potential accidents. “It’s a travesty,” she said.
Despite repeated calls to the NYPD and Parks Department, parents say enforcement has been inconsistent. While News 12 was at the park, a police car briefly stopped by, but was gone within minutes.
Council Member Susan Zhuang told News 12 she’s advocating for a stronger NYPD presence in the park and supports Intro 606 — a proposed bill that would regulate mopeds across the city.
Park rules already ban unauthorized motor vehicles, but parents say the signage is too small and easy to ignore. They’re asking the city to post larger, clearer signs banning mopeds and bikes from park paths.
Residents say they want action before someone gets seriously hurt.
The Parks Department says it has been monitoring park entrances across the city to turn away mopeds, but did not specifically address the safety issues at Seth Low park.
