Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that started in a Bensonhurst novelty store Tuesday.
Officials say more than 100 firefighters tried to put out a fire that started in Collector's Fantasy on Kings Highway and spread to the two floors above the novelty store. The flames destroyed all of the store?s contents and the apartments in the building. Some of the families have lived in the apartments for 15 years and are now homeless.
Officials say one firefighter fell through the three-story building and suffered a broken shoulder. He and 16 other people are expected to recover from their injuries.
