Many Bensonhurst residents took to the streets on Sunday over a planned garbage transfer station that they say stinks.
The city plans to build the station on the water where the Southwest Brooklyn Incinerator used to be. Protesters say the plan will create an odor and pollute the area.
The Department of Sanitation is assuring residents that the facility will be fully contained, with waste going onto barges in sealed containers and being unloaded at out-of-state landfills.
