The New York City Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide, determining she died from blunt force trauma to the head and torso.
While police tape and investigators are no longer outside the building, neighbors told News 12 the case continues to weigh on the community. One resident said officers guarded the apartment for three days following the discovery, while another remembered Miranda Tlacuatl as a kind woman who always greeted people with a smile.
The NYPD said the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been announced.
