A Brooklyn mother lost more than 100 pounds over the last two years after taking up running to boost her spirits and well-being.
Michelle Hercules says she had depression and struggled with her weight and a sluggish lifestyle before she underwent a major lifestyle change.
"I just got tired of feeling that way, and I was always overweight all my life," Hercules says. "I wanted to make a change."
The change eventually led to her selection for the cover of Runner's World Magazine, where her story inspires other women struggling with similar challenges.
She plans to run in a 10K race this weekend and the New York City Marathon in November.
