A Brooklyn high school is going green right on their own rooftop.
Funding from the state, city and New York Power Authority helped Edward R. Murrow High School offer an agricultural class using a rooftop greenhouse.
So far, the school has grown basil that has been used for pesto and taken on a project where they utilize a workout bike to mix smoothies.
The greenhouse has become not only a garden for students, but also a lesson in sustainability and healthy eating.
"I want to have a little farm stand and we'll sell all the things that come out of here that are fresh and organic," says junior Mary Haley.
