Big Daddy Kane performed at the Albee Square Mall Friday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.
The partnership is credited with a resurgence of business and cultural development to the neighborhood.
Kane, a Brooklyn native, was one of the most popular rappers in the 1980s and '90s.
Fans said they were excited to hear the old-school sound return to the borough.
In another homage to Kane's era, organizers invited street artists to create live graffiti and participate in a sneaker design contest.
