Drivers in Canarsie say new bike lanes have made street parking a disaster in the area.
They say that just a few weeks ago, part of East 102nd Street was filled with cars parked at an angle. New bike lanes have since replaced the angled spots, and a few parallel-parking spaces are present in the middle of the street.
Residents who spoke with News 12 say the changes make the road more narrow. They also complain that they lost convenient parking spots.
The New York City Department of Transportation says the local community approved the parking changes, but insists that it will look into the tenants' concerns.
The DOT also created more parking lanes on nearby streets, but tenants say it is too far of a walk for them, especially late at night and for senior citizens.
