A Bushwick bookstore is making reading more accessible to the Spanish speaking community.
The shelves of Mil Mundos have many books in both English and Spanish.
"Bushwick being a primarily Spanish-speaking neighborhood, people being able to come in and see books in their language," said Camila Sanguinetti, of Mil Mundos. "Their native tongue, the language of they speak at home, the language of their parents speak, I think it's really important."
The bookstore was founded in 2019 and is cooperatively owned.
It has a collection of books that highlight Black, Latin X and indigenous authors.
They also run a nonprofit that offers English classes and takes in donations to redistribute to the community.
