A bill currently stalled in the state Senate aims to protect the
developmentally disabled.
Group home residents would collectively be able to decide whether to
agree to video surveillance under Billy Cray’s law.
Some disability rights groups have privacy concerns.
“And I’m not speaking just on behalf of my son,” said Martha Cray, Billy
Cray’s mother. “I’m speaking out for, and I’m speaking on behalf of the
families, for all of New Jersey.”
Billy Cray’s law is currently sponsored by Republican Sen. Edward
Durr.
Democratic Senator Joe Vitale has yet to schedule it for committee
vote.
