School may be out this week, but for some students in Bergen Beach, it was a time to learn about an important environmental issue.
Students gathered at the Environmental Study Center in Bergen Beach to study where New York's wastewater goes. The students used an interactive map to learn how the sewer system works. The lesson is meant to teach kids why it's important to be conscious of the environment.
Hannah Nelson said she discovered that littering, especially before a rainfall, can be really bad.
The center is open to students throughout the year.
