A Brooklyn-based organization is working to erase the stigma that's often associated with HIV. The non-profit group CAMBA teamed up with the city's Health Department to launch a poster campaign featured at more than a dozen bus stops and on a few buses around the borough. Posters across Brooklyn read: "HIV stigma scars. Heal the Pain. End the Shame." CAMBA is also encouraging people to use Foursquare and "check in" whenever they see one of the posters at a Brooklyn bus stop. Officials say it's important to spread the message against HIV stigmatization, specifically in Brooklyn's black and Latino community. The latest Department of Health numbers show that the largest increase of new HIV cases in Brooklyn are among minority women.
