The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is once again calling for more affordable housing in Downtown Brooklyn Tuesday.
In the past, ACORN has pushed developers to create more affordable housing. It has also asked the city to give less tax breaks to developers who build luxury condos. Now, the group is targeting Magic Johnson?s Canyon Johnson Urban Fund. ACORN claims the developer is getting tax breaks for turning the Williamsburg Savings Bank building into luxury condos with no low-income housing in the deal.
ACORN plans to march in front of the bank building in Downtown Brooklyn in an effort to get the developer to include affordable housing in its plans.
