One Brooklyn neighborhood is coming together to provide relief to the victims of the 8.1-magnitude earthquake that rocked the southern coast of Mexico Thursday night.
The local social justice organization “El Grito” has organized a donation drive at Assemblyman Felix Ortiz’s office in Sunset Park. Volunteers are lending their helping hands to fill up the donation center with necessities like food and medical supplies.
News 12 Brooklyn met with several contributors who say they know the importance of every little act of kindness.
“There's a lot of people in need, and if I have a little bit to help other people, I would like to help other people too,” said Maria Acosta.
The group is also ramping up their efforts in support of those affected by Hurricane Irma.
