Brooklyn residents flocked to local parks Saturday in celebration of It's My Park Day.
Some neighbors participated in free yoga sessions, or walked their dogs at nearby parks. Though Brooklyn residents in Red Hook were enthusiastic about the day, some people in Williamsburg say the area does not have enough green space.
Organizers of the park celebration say they were promised a new park in Williamsburg in 2005 with new rezoning. Instead of open space with grass and trees, they've seen more development.
"We have the lowest open space per capita of almost any other neighborhood," Emily Gallagher, an organizer, says.
According to organizers, the city claims the first phase of Bushwick Inlet Park will be completed by 2010.
