Many Brooklyn straphangers could face some major headaches with subway service disruptions.

At the end of March, both the A and C lines will be shut down in part of the borough. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says starting March 31 for five weekends in a row, both subway lines won?t be running from Utica Avenue and Jay Street. MTA officials say instead shuttle buses will be available for commuters.

The MTA says it is replacing tracks that are more than 65 years old. MTA officials say the new tracks will allow trains to travel faster and reduce noise and vibration.

Meanwhile, subway riders can get a preview of what to expect with some service disruptions this weekend. The C train will not run in certain parts of Brooklyn and the A train will be making local stops.
