Family members of more than 120 victims have joined a class action lawsuit against the four men allegedly involved in a body part snatching scheme.
The alleged ringleaders, Michael Mastromarino and Joseph Nicelli, and two funeral home workers are accused of taking bones and tissue from bodies and replacing them with plastic piping. Prosecutors also say the men altered medical records to show the tissue was healthy when in fact some of it was diseased. The lawsuit also names several funeral homes including Brooklyn funeral homes English Brothers and Daniel George.
According to the suit, the families are seeking unspecified damages for negligence, fraud and emotional distress. Lawsuits are also pending nationwide.
