The personal assistant to Linda Stein hasadmitted she was involved in the death of the renowned punk rockpioneer turned "Realtor to the Stars," who was brutally beaten inher $3 million Fifth Avenue apartment on Halloween, police saidFriday. Natavia Lowery, 26, of Brooklyn, was arrested after she "madestatements implicating herself" in the fatal attack, said New YorkPolice Department spokesman Paul Brown. She was in custody at aManhattan police precinct with charges pending, he said. Stein, 62, whose star-studded cadre of friends included EltonJohn and Madonna, was found lying in a pool of blood on Oct. 31.The slaying set off an intensive investigation, with dozens ofpeople interviewed - including family, friends, former loveinterests and co-workers. Her apartment was combed for DNA and other forensic evidencebefore Lowery admitted her role to police, authorities said.Stein's body, lying face down in her living room, was discovered byher daughter, Mandy, whose godfather is Elton John. Stein was beaten about the neck and head by her killer. The bold, brassy Stein was a well-known New York figure datingback to her work as co-manager of the Ramones in the late 1970s.She was once married to Seymour Stein, the former president of SireRecords. After leaving the punk rock scene, Stein reinvented herself as areal estate agent handling a bold-faced collection of clients:Sting, Billy Joel, Steven Spielberg, Angelina Jolie. Among thoseattending her funeral were Whoopi Goldberg, renowned recordexecutive Clive Davis and band leader Paul Shaffer of "Late ShowWith David Letterman."
