Members of Black Lives Matter Greater New York are in Texas to help people after winter storms in the state left thousands without power.

Members of Black Lives Matter Greater New York are in Texas to help people after winter storms in the state left thousands without power.
Volunteers will partner with Black-owned water companies to get water to residents and work with a local churches to feed families.
The organization raised money and made the trip to give back to fellow Black people in an area in need of a lot of support.
Co-founder of Black Lives Matter Greater New York Chivona Newsome says that the initiative is about community and love.
“It’s the same thing that’s happening in the Bronx as it is in Texas,” Newsome says. “It was a pandemic before the pandemic so the people hardest hit are the people who are always hardest hit.”
