Firefighter Brendan Cawley returned to the stand Thursday afternoon to testify against three Bronx residents in the ?Black Sunday? fire that claimed the life of two of his co-workers.
Cawley took the stand at the Bronx Hall of Justice to continue the district attorney?s questioning from Jan. 27. Cawley says he remembers being trapped and unable to access the fire escape due to an illegal partition in the East 178th Street building. Lt. Curtis Meyran and firefighter John Bellew were killed after leaping from the fourth floor.
Cesar Rios, the building's landlord, Rafael Castillo and Caridad Coste all face manslaughter charges in relation to the 2005 fire.
