Bloomberg announces funds for Workforce One

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the Workforce One Career Centers will receive nearly $32 million in federal stimulus funding. The mayor says the funding was received under the American Recovery and Reinvestment

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the Workforce One Career Centers will receive nearly $32 million in federal stimulus funding.
The mayor says the funding was received under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Over the next two years about 10,000 New Yorkers will get training and jobs as a result of the funding.
"Thanks in part to this stimulus money, displaced workers will have the opportunity to learn a new skill and this will help long after we pull out of this recession," Bloomberg says.
Derek Phillip, of Flatbush, says Workforce One was instrumental in his career.
"I used them to help get into an aircraft technology program," Phillip says.
The new funds are expected to help many more Brooklyn residents such as Phillip gain employment.
