Mayor Michael Bloomberg delivered his annual State of the City address today from Morris High School in The Bronx. The speech marked Bloomberg's 11th as mayor, and focused largely on economic growth and education across the five boroughs. Major talking points included the redevelopment of the vacant Kingsbridge Armory, as well a five-point teacher salary program. Bloomberg also disclosed plans to soon bring a new commercial complex to 149th Street. "The first wave of 2,000 construction workers will break ground on New York's next great shopping destination," he said. Nearly 200 people rallied outside the school during the speech, demonstrating against a Department of Education law prohibiting religious worship in public spaces. To watch Mayor Bloomberg's State of the City address, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.
