Police body-camera video and drone video have been released of a deadly police shooting that occurred on the Brooklyn Bridge last month.
The nearly hourlong standoff between 41-year-old Chaun Bottom and Detective Nicholas Giordani took place on Sept. 4 around 3:30 a.m.
Video shows that about 10 minutes into the incident, Giordani noticed Bottom was holding something and told him to drop it. Officers tried to convince Bottom to drop the weapon and come down safely.
Drone video also shows Bottom moving toward officers with a knife raised. Police say an ESU sergeant, who was on the bridge's roadway, fired one shot and hit Bottom.
Bottom was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers said during a press conference that Bottom also claimed he had a bomb.
Days later, Attorney General Letitia James announced she was she would open an investigation into the shooting and determine if fatal force was justified.
