A professor who gave his life to protect others during the Virginia Tech massacre was remembered Wednesday at a Borough Park funeral.
Authorities say Liviu Librescu, 76, blocked the door to his class from gunman Cho Seung-Hui. Officials say Seung-Hui fatally shot the internationally renowned aeronautics engineer as students escaped through a window. Librescu was one of 32 victims in Monday's tragedy.
The professor's body was brought to Borough Park, where the large Jewish community offered to hold a funeral service. The victim's remains will be flown to Israel for burial Thursday. Librescu leaves behind a wife, Marlena, and two sons, Joe and Arie.
Librescu, who survived the Holocaust as a young child, is being described as a giving and brilliant man.
